Ut acerbus terminus: to the bitter end.

Etiquette and Espionage by Gail Carriger. Sophronia, one of 8 children, is nothing but trouble for her poor mother, all her mother can hope is that no one sees her atrocious curtsy. So as any mother desperate for her daughter to become a proper lady, she enrols Sophronia in Mademoiselle Geraldine’s Finishing Academy for Young Ladies of Quality But the school isn't what her mother thinks it is. They may work on the arts of dance, posture, dress and etiquette but they also teach their girls the art of death, diversion and espionage. Sophronia is in for a very interesting year. I absolutely loved this book (and the entire series) they were funny, clever, and full of steampunk ideas, fashion, fun characters, a bit of romance and many lessons in etiquette and espionage. “Petunia Temminnick’s coming-out ball was pronounced a resounding success by all in attendance. There had been highly intoxicating punch, a variety of dances, good music, and intermission entertainment. No one knew why the beautiful Miss Pelouse had stripped, rolled about in the garden, and then chucked a cheese pie at the youngest Temminnick girl before being taken away in floods of tears, but it was surely the highlight of a most enjoyable evening.” ― Gail Carriger, Etiquette & Espionage “It's no good choosing your first husband from a school for evil geniuses. Much too difficult to kill.” ― Gail Carriger, Etiquette & Espionage
